What will the new decade hold for us? What challenges, conflicts and opportunities does it offer? For the daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on December 28, I drew several large-format illustrations on these questions and apparently unconsciously conjured up the stylistic spirit of Jack Kirby.

For the exhibition Zeitenwende 1400 about the medieval altar Die Goldene Tafel at the Landesmuseum Hannover I created a wall to wall comic about the infamous robber Nickel List.

I am absolutely thrilled and honored to announce that the prestigious LUDWIGGALERIE Schloss Oberhausen will show a big retrospective of my work of the last 15 years named GESCHICHTSBILDER – Comics & Graphic Novels.
From september 29, 2019 till january 19, 2020 you can see original artwork from all my graphic novels and even some rarities like my early work for "Mosaik" and some never before seen Illustrations, Comics and Artprints.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a big art catalog with many pictures and articles by Andreas Platthaus, Dr. Christine Vogt and Dr. Jochen Voit.

After a five-year run in the weekly der Freitag, it has now found a new home at the FAZ Magazine in a wonderful size. On September 14, 2019, you can read a new episode about Victoria Woodhull, the first US presidential candidate.

I am very honored to announce that from april 4, 2019 until august 31, 2019 the german parliament the Deutscher Bundestag will show my new exhibition „Das Parlament - 45 Leben für die Demokratie“.
The exhibition shows 45 comic biographies about german politicians from the Frankfurt Parliament in 1848 up to German reunification in 1990. The project is a contract labor for the art council of the german parliament.
An official opening ceremony hosted by the president of the german parliament Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble will be held on April 4, 2019 at 7 p.m.
The exhibition will be accompanied by my new book of the same name by my German publisher avant-verlag.

In seinem neuem Buch „Das Parlament" spürt der preisgekrönte Comic-Künstler Simon Schwartz den Lebenslinien jener Menschen nach, die als gewählte Abgeordnete in Deutschen Parlamenten saßen. Anhand der oft wechselvollen Biografien von mehr als 40 Politikern und Politikerinnen, vom Parlament der Paulskirche im Jahre 1848 bis zur Wiedervereinigung 1990, erzählt „Das Parlament" von den schweren Auseinandersetzungen und Kämpfen, die nicht nur über die deutsche Geschichte, sondern auch persönliche Schicksale entschieden.
Darunter befinden sich der Mediziner Rudolf Virchow, die Frauenrechtlerin Clara Zetkin, der Revolutionär Robert Blum, der Postkartenmaler Otto Rühle oder Elisabeth Selbert – eine der „Mütter des Grundgesetzes“.
Das Parlament entstand im Auftrag des Kunstbeirates des Deutschen Bundestages.
